Launching Science & Discovery: Kīlauea Episode 55

The October 26, 2026 Science & Discovery film on Kīlauea Episode 55, with HVO's times and the USGS footage credit.

Kīlauea Episode 55 is a finished record, not a forecast. On October 17, 2026, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory called the start at 3:19 a.m. HST and the end of fountaining at 9:03 a.m. HST. The north vent reached about 720 feet. The plume reached about 25,000 feet above sea level. At 9:59 a.m. the alert dropped from WATCH to ADVISORY.

The film is I Went to Sleep Watching Kīlauea… Then a 720-Foot Lava Fountain Erupted, published October 26, 2026. It is Science & Discovery. On YouTube the cut calls itself Science in Motion. It is not a Historic Minds episode. The companion keeps the chapters, the October 25 status card as a dated note inside the film, and the source list.

The crater pictures are U.S. Geological Survey / Hawaiian Volcano Observatory webcam footage. JabMed’s livestream frames are recordings of those cameras. JabMed Media does not own the cameras. Two long archived broadcasts stay on the Science & Discovery playlist. They are not listed on Watch as films. Two Shorts from that morning are on the Watch shelf: the fountain, and the moment fountaining stopped.

The earlier chronology still covers 54 episodes, through August 25, 2026. Episode 55 did not rewrite that film. Current status stays with USGS / Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. JabMed Media does not issue eruption forecasts or alerts.

The companion is on Watch. The film is on YouTube. The series note is Kīlauea on Watch.
